Good Charlotte are well on the way to completing their brand new album Cardiology, the follow-up to 2007's Good Morning Revival. In an exclusive interview with Kerrang!, the band's frontman Joel Madden reveals how the group have already written 20 songs, and are heading back to the punk roots of their past.
"We are probably two weeks away from from being done with the writing," says Joel, who along with brother Benji will shortly travel to Canada to escape the distractions of home and nail down the finer details fo the album. "It's leaning much more towards a straight-up rock or pop-punk sound. We've grown up a lot on the writing front."
The title - Cardiology - comes from the album's lyrical content, which Joel explains is "all connected to the heart."
"They're not necessarily love songs," he states. "It's about exploring the way that you can love, not love, lose love and everything in between."
Joel reveals that producers lined up for the new album may include Don Gilmore (Linkin Park, Avril Lavigne), (English pop producer) Trevor Horn and John Feldmann (Atreyu, The Used).
"It's important to us to work with a producer that believe in us," says Madden. "When someone really gets behind us and tells us that they believe in what we're doing, it counts for more than almost anthing else."
Cardiology will be out in 2009. Their latest album, The Greatest Remixes, is out now via Epic.
Чтож, возможно, нов альбом будет не через полгода, как они говорили - летом, а может даже весной...)))
